By entering the competition, you agree to the terms and conditions stated here:-
1.0 THE COMPETITION
The competition will be called the Port of Tyne Reflect Awards and will seek out images of excellence in photography and short film from entrants of all ages anywhere in the United Kingdom.
1.1 The Port of Tyne cannot return any entries or acknowledge receipt of images.
1.2 All contact with the Port of Tyne must be by email.
1.3 By entering the competition you agree that your entry can appear on public displays. The Port of Tyne may also use the entry on the internet, television and in print to promote Reflect and the North East of England (in newspapers and magazines for example) and share them, with their partners and commercial supporters of this competition.
1.4 An independent panel of five judges will select, in their opinion, the best entry in each category. The judge’s decision is final.
1.5 An independent expert will validate the entries before they go live on the website. As a result, there will be a delay of up to ten working days before your entry can be viewed online.
1.6 The Port of Tyne reserves the right to reject any images which are, in its view, unsuitable for public display.
1.7 Port of Tyne reserves the right to cancel the competition at any stage.
1.8 Images will be used by the Port of Tyne to publicise Reflect or the North East of England and all images will be attributed to the entrant.
1.9 Finalists and their partners will be invited to attend the Port of Tyne Reflect Awards evening in September 2010 in The BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art.
2.0 THE ENTRIES
2.1 Entries must be taken between 18th September 2009 and 31st August 2010.
2.2 Entries must fall within one of the following sections: Reflect Photography Awards, ReflectYouth Awards, and ReflectFilm.
2.3 The winning entries will receive a trophy and a cheque for £500.
2.4 Runners-up will receive a trophy and a voucher worth £50.
2.5 Entrants should ensure that, where relevant, they obtain consent for the photograph from any people featured.
2.6 By entering Reflect, overall category winners consent to being filmed before the awards evening.
2.7 Entries must be of images of North East England. For the purposes of this competition, North East England is defined as the north east region between the river Tweed to the river Tees.
2.8 Entries must be submitted by midnight on 1st September 2010 together with the official application/permission form duly completed.
2.9 Entries must be taken by the person submitting the entry. Photographs will not be returned. No expenses incurred in taking or submitting photographs or film will be met by the Port of Tyne, this is the sole responsibility of the entrant.
3.0 THE SECTIONS
3.1 REFLECT PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS
Entrants can enter up to ten photographs in each subject category. These subject categories are:

3.2 REFLECTYOUTH AWARDS
To qualify for ReflectYouth, you must be aged 16 or under on 1st September 2010.
Entrants can enter up to ten photographs of any subject of their choice.
Entrants must obtain permission from a parent/guardian before entering.
3.3 REFLECTFILM
Stage 1: Paper pitches for a one minute film reflecting an unusual, interesting, surprising, visionary, or special aspect or activities associated with the river Tyne to be received by no later than Monday 10 May.
Stage 2: Three pitches will be selected by a panel of judges coordinated by Northern Film and Media.
Stage 3: The chosen pitches will then be partnered up with a regional production company who will work with the individuals to prepare, shoot and edit the films during May through to August.
Stage 4: All three films will be premiered at the Reflect Awards evening when the winner will be announced.
